Cable Materials
Various kinds of plastics, yarns, tapes, inks etc are used to manufacture optical fiber cables. Optical fiber cable manufacturers require these materials as per the design of their cable. It is often a hefty task for cable makers to search and find suitable material at competitive price.

Color Inks
Color inks are used for identification of optical fibers. Color inks shall be suitable for high speed coloring machines that uses Ultra violet curing method. Optical fiber identification shall be uniform and throughout the length. Coloring is a polymerization process taken place in an inert atmosphere to ensure continuous polymerization process.

Thixotropic Jelly
Use of thixotropic gel ensures the ultimate water protection for optical fibers inside loose tubes. Loose tubes are filled with thixotropic jelly during secondary coating process. Jelly provides bedding to the optical fibers and protects them from vibrations and external shocks while helping them to retain excess fiber lengths.

Polybutylene Teraphthalate (PBT)
PBT is one of the widely used plastics for making loose tubes. PBT has good mechanical and environmental characteristics that ensure protection to the optical fibers inside. We provide color master batches to provide color to the PBT loose tubes.

Central Strength Members
Central strength member provides tensile strength to the cable that is required for installation. Central strength members are also anti-buckling elements. FRP is used as non-metallic central strength member. Single or stranded steel wires are also used as central strength members where metallic elements can be used in cable design.

Yarns
Various kinds of yarns are used in the construction of optical fiber cables. Binder yarns are used in stranding line to hold the stranded loose tubes. Water swellable yarns are used in stranded cores to block water.

Tapes
Polyester or water swellable tapes are used in stranding line. Aluminum and Steel tapes are used in sheathing line that provides extra protection to the stranded cores.

Water blocking compound
Filling gel is commonly used as water blocking compound. Gel compounds ensure effective protection of cable materials from water.

Sheathing Materials
Plastics are used for extrusion over stranded cores as sheathing materials. There are various kinds of plastics depending on the application and environmental area of use of cables. Polyethylene is used in common duct cables. There are high, medium and low, linear low density polyethylenes. PVC is used in indoor cables. When low smoke and flame retardant characteristics are required, LSZH materials are used. Both Polyethylene and PVC has flame retardant grades.
